Nikwax Horse Rug Proof

Nikwax Rug Proof is ideal for renewing life in to old rugs, or ensuring that new rugs are full waterproof and ready for wear. The Rug Proof adds and renews water repellancy and will revive breathability to all horse rugs. Nikwax Rug Proof has no effect on insulation, so your horse will remain warm and dry. Treatment with Nikwax Rug Proof is ideal for use before storage as it reduces the growth of mildew within the rug. The product is water based which means that it is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, non flammable, non hazardous.  If you stick to the following instructions Nikwax is easy to apply and very effective.

How to Apply:
For best results always clean rug first with Nikwax® Rug Wash. No need to dry item(s) before waterproofing. It is vital that rugs are washed and rinsed thoroughly. Shake well before use. Follow care label instructions.

Machine Wash:
Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser.
Place clean rug in washing machine.
Use 500 ml for 1 rug. Treat 1 rug per load.
Run 30o cotton cycle.

Hand Wash (use gloves):
Use 500 ml for 1 rug, with 10 litres of hand-hot water in vessel.
Agitate to mix, push down into vessel so that whole rug is immersed.
Add a further 15 litres of warm water to cover rug and agitate.
Leave to soak for 2 hours, agitating occasionally.
Rinse in cold water until water runs clear.

Sponge Application (use gloves):
Spread clean rug on clean area and wet thoroughly with a hose.
Use 500 ml for 1 rug, with 1.5 litres of hand-hot water.
Using a new sponge apply solution to rug, working into fabric and seams.
Use any surplus on back area of rug, leave for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse in cold water until water runs clear.

Drying:
Air dry or tumble dry on a low setting if care label allows.
