I started using V&P neatsfoot oil back in the 60s on mountaineering boots. In those days it was the in thing, it certainly kept the leather supple and appeared to prevent cracking round lace fittings etc. Long ago it disappeared from my (mountaineering, trekking) ken, so I used wax. Having recently found an old tin and traced this source on the internet, I intend to return to it. for my next trek in the Himalayas.
